This feels like the right time to be back and get down to blogging in my spare time! I've missed doing this for quite a while and I've been so distracted at work and my professional life and I think now is the time! I've got so many things I've wanted to share my opinion on and now, we have so much more content than ever!
So, why the long hiatus you may wonder? It's been what? A 3 year absence from the blogging scene? It was a necessity and as you may well know, the life of a graduate student is way different! More so when you're entangled in a rat-race to win in the Graphics market with two tycoons hearding your overall entry into the market! These last 3 years were formative in what I've achieved in my career till today. It was a struggle, adapting to a new environment both professionally and personally, finding a job that I would be really good at and to also have a social life on top of it all - but I think I've somehow managed all that. Adding more to the fact that there are now better ways to express your personal life stories on social media sites like Instagram, FB and Whatsapp now (duh, they're all owned by the same entity and yet, they seem so different in their own way)! If you follow me, you may notice multiple highlights on my feed every day pertaining to something I love to give my thoughts on! But hey, writing is something I love to do as well and I need to get back into this groove now!
The last post I had published was on Jan 4, 2016 - a lot has happened since then - I still vaguely remember how my Spring 2016 went - it was a nightmare in so many ways - academically as well as personally and it took a toll on my body, mind, heart and soul. I soon realized that I had to spend the summer at college and make a living for myself by juggling between day jobs and academia for one of the most challenging graduate courses at USC. I had this notion that if I could split and manage my time doing this, there was nothing in the world I couldn't do. I had fun with both the course as well as fulfilling the hard and tiresome part-time job that I had to travel 10 miles each way in LA traffic every other day. My roommates were really awesome (blessed be their souls) and were kind enough to get me through the summer with a treat at the very end - a live Liverpool v Chelsea game on my birthday at the Rose Bowl! There were many life-changing experiences I learned along the way and I'll probably get to share some of them in some of the blogs that follow.
Fall 2016 was my last semester in college and I had opted to take a Computer Science course to technically enhance my thoughts - what made me choose a course of that nature was that it gave me an opportunity to seek a job more in tune with my logical thinking and creative abilities - I finally got that offer from Intel Corporation, Folsom and I was ecstatic! The one lesson I learned along the way at USC and in my job search was to NEVER GIVE UP - until the very end! Life at USC may not have technically enhanced my skills as much as I would have liked but it did teach me to be a survivor in this cut-throat world. There is no substitute for hard work, and keep trying till the very end! Keep FIGHTING ON! I graduated from USC in Dec 2016 looking forward to my professional life!
It has been 2 years and 4 months to this day since I started working at Intel and everyday has been a challenging encounter! I've interacted with a bunch of knowledgeable principal engineers, product owners and micro-architects and they've all helped me become what I am today. I joined the company not knowing anything about a verification environment to now co-owning a verification environment as well as designing things that now make sense in the broader scheme of things to meet different project goals. I feel like I'm doing my best to ensure that our product is of the highest quality and is bug-free when the Silicon comes back for further tests! Intel and my manager have been grooming me very well and I'm glad I am able to contribute to their success while also enhancing my technical skills everyday! To every colleague at work, to every new friend that I made, thank you for being in my life! I've never really thanked you all, I think it's high time that we are grateful and are in gratitude for the things that we do have in our lives and be thankful for them as well. I've formed close bonds with a certain group of people that I don't think I will lose for a long time!
2019 has been an immense year and I want to compare my life to Liverpool's rise as one of the giants in World Football in the past three years! Jurgen Klopp came to Liverpool with a massive project in his hands and so did I - I came to the US with huge aspirations and dreams... Every year was that much closer to winning a trophy after putting in all the hard work, and with all the heart-break of doing your best without rewards, we kept on going and going and were hungry for more! Today, we're Champions of Europe for the 6th time, were almost Champions of England (rode Manchester City until the very last day - they deserved it!), Rafa has won his 12th Roland Garros after his long struggles with his wrist (yes, you read that right, a freaking 12th!), and I still dream and continue to resonate with what Matthew McConaughey said in his Oscar speech - 'And to my hero. That's who I chase. When I was 15 years old I had a very important person in my life come and ask me 'Who's your hero?' I said, 'I thought about it and it's me in ten years.' So I turned 25 ten years later and that same person comes to me and goes 'Are you a hero?' I said 'Not even close!' She said why and I said 'My hero is me at 35!' You see, every day, every week, and every month, and every year of my life, my hero is always ten years away. I'm never going to be my hero. I'm not going to obtain that and that's fine with me because it keeps me with somebody to keep on chasing'
